SmartXYZ, company dedicated to creating tools that make your work easier, came up with the Blue Explorer application that does precisely that – it helps you easily manage your files. This is a user friendly and powerful file manager with some very handy extra features, like FTP connect and file shredding.

Support for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2003, and Windows 2008 is provided by Blue Explorer. Download a 2.4MB executable, run it, go through a setup wizard, and in no time at all you will have Blue Explorer up and running on a PC powered by one of the aforementioned Windows editions.

As mentioned above, Blue Explorer is a dual-pane file manager. The dual-pane approach is very popular in the world of file managers because it is efficient. If you want to, you can hide the right pane with a simple mouse click, you can switch the pane style from vertical to horizontal, and you can add more panes. In each pane you can open as many tabs as you want. Feel free to explore the interface’s customization options without fearing that you will mess things up – the Restore Layout button is there to return things to their default settings.

Blue Explorer makes it very easy to browse your drives and manage your files. You can easily find files, view and edit files, move files from one location to another, and delete the files you no longer need. Speaking about that, Blue Explorer comes with a handy bit of extra functionality: file shredding. And speaking about extra functionality, Blue Explorer can also mass rename files, assign colors to files, sync folders, connect to a FTP server, and run batch commands. You have a total of 30 days at your disposal to uncover all the functionality Blue Explorer has to offer. Once that evaluation period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using the application.

Blue Explorer provides a handy means of managing your files and it is a vey good alternative to Windows Explorer.

Pros

Blue Explorer features a customizable, dual-pane interface. You can add more panes if you want to. You can drag the preview window outside of Blue Explorer. Easily manage your files with the Blue Explorer application. Shred the files you no longer need.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of 30 days; nag screen.
